About COMSATS' merit formula
COMSATS doesn't run one universal formula across every campus and program either. The 10/40/50 split above is the version most commonly cited for Computing and Engineering programs, but some campuses and business programs use a different weighting — a 20/40/40 split shows up for a few business programs, and some campuses accept SSC and NTS only, without a separate intermediate component. Architecture and design programs typically run through a portfolio or aptitude-test process instead of this formula entirely.
For your specific campus and program's current formula, COMSATS Islamabad or COMSATS Lahore — or whichever campus's own site — is the authoritative source, always worth checking before this or any other third-party estimate.
Frequently asked questions
What formula does the COMSATS calculator use?
By default it uses 10% Matric, 40% Intermediate and 50% NTS/Entry Test, the commonly cited formula for Computing and Engineering programs. You can edit each weight.
Do business or other programs use a different split?
Sometimes. A 20/40/40 split appears for a few business programs, and some campuses accept SSC and NTS only. Architecture and design programs usually use a portfolio or aptitude test instead. Adjust the weights to match your program.
Do COMSATS programs use additional marks?
Most do not, so leave the additional marks box blank unless your campus says otherwise.
Is this the official COMSATS merit calculation?
No. It is an estimate. Check your own campus's website, such as COMSATS Islamabad or Lahore, for the current formula for your program.
